About Portland Vocal Consort
Symphony of Singers
PVC was formed in the summer of 2007 by our Artistic Director and Conductor, Ryan Heller and Executive Director, Marita Postma. Joined by community leaders, arts professionals, and dedicated volunteers, PVC formed and quickly gained notoriety as an ensemble dedicated to excellence. Recognizing that choral singing is the most popular form of participation in the performing arts, we are passionate about offering a wide repertoire of music that challenges, stimulates, and engages both singers and audiences.
Now entering our sixth season, PVC has enjoyed collaborations with Pacific University, Cascadia Composers, and North Pacific Music. In 2009, we were honored to part of the world premiere of "Tiananmen Remembered" featuring the music of Portland composer Jack Gabel. In 2010, we released our first CD, Overture, which captured highlights from live performances of our first seasons. Our annual Best of the Northwest concert has garnered much acclaim and has been called one of the most important events of the season. We are passionate about new music, and in addition to the annual concert event, also host a Young Composer Contest which fosters and promotes the music of up and coming musicians, the winner of which is featured on our concert.
Portland Vocal Consort is a professional vocal ensemble dedicated to performance, education, and community service. Committed to artistic excellence, we enrich the lives of our worldwide community through incomparable performances and recordings of all styles of vocal music.
We welcome you to PVC and look forward to seeing you at our next event!
